Professional Certification in Human Resources Management


Human Resource Certification is a significant professional milestone. Certification signifies that you have mastered the HR body of knowledge and have a commitment to professional excellence and development. Currently, there are more than 53,000 certified professionals and the number is growing rapidly.


The HR Certification Institute (HRCI ®) is the credentialing arm of the Society of Human Resource Management. Professional certification is offered at two levels:  Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).

TEST PREPARATION PROGRAMS

OTTAWA UNIVERSITY

Eleven-week course utilizing the SHRM Learning System, one night per week, three hours per night; three hours graduate level college credit and graded.  Starts March and September, approximate cost $1,850. 


UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX

Ten-week course utilizing the SHRM Learning System, one night per week, four hours per night, three hours college credit and graded.  Starts February and August, approximate cost $1,380.


THE HRCI PREP CLASS

The HRCI Prep Class is the only thirteen-week course in the valley.  Both pre and post tests and six interim examinations.  Uses the SHRM Learning System, one night per week, 3.5 hours per night, 4.5 CEU's, with certification and letter gradeissued.  Starts February and September, approximate cost $1,500.


CUSTOMIZED CLASSES AT YOUR LOCATION
Jack Milligan will present a twelve-week class at your company location with a minimum of 10 students.  Same structure as above, except at your company location in a suitable class room environment.  Mix students from many employers or all from one.  Cost depends on location, facilities and number of students.


SHRM ARIZONA STATE COUNCIL IN COOPERATION WITH EVHRA AND VSHRA

Ten-week course, uses college level text and S/PHR Study Guide, one night per week, three hours per night, taught by certified local HR professional volunteers, not graded, no tests.   Starts March and September, approximate cost $375.


CAPELLA UNIVERSITY
Course provided on-line so access to web is only necessity.  Course very flexible and includes weekly on-line sessions, tests monitor progress.  Uses SHRM Learning System which is included in tuition of $1,340 per participant.  Call toll free 1-888-227-3552 x9039 or www.capella.edu.


RIO SALADO COLLEGE
Rio Salado offers an online test preparation course for human resource professionals to study for the PHR exam.  This course is specifically intended to prepare students to sit for the PHR exam. MOUNTAIN STATES EMPLOYERS COUNCIL
MSEC offers a ten-week program, one-week boot camp, and self-study programs for HR professionals in preparing for the SPHR and PHR certifications.  MSEC employment lawyers and HR professionals use the SHRM Learning System, as well as MSEC study materials.  Costs of the programs vary from $645 to $1,295.  MSEC pass rates are 90% for PHR and 85% for SPHR.  MSEC also offers a 2-1/2 day SPHR Strategic Recertification Program where you can earn all 15 strategic credits for $395.  Visit www.msec.org.  Contact Shelley Blackman, SPHR at (602) 955-7558, sblackman@msec.org.


SHRM sponosred three-day seminar
Given in various cities through the country.

Three day course, classes 8:30 to 5 each day with evening work, uses SHRM Learning System, not graded, taught by certified HR professonals or attorneys, approximate cost $1,095 higher for non-members, plus transportation and lodging.


SELF-STUDY                 
You can purchase the SHRM Learning System, $695 members, $860 non-members and conduct your own study course. 

You can purchase a competing system from Human Resource Certification Preparation HRCP; a Utah based educational organization, available for about $345 at 1-801-343-3699 or order on-line at http://www.hrcp.com.
